This is kind of interesting:
I am still deeply convinced that Anti-Virus by itself does not add a lot of value. You can use better technology to protect against malware (see Is Anti-Virus Technology Dead?). If I see that this market is still predicted to grow (even as a last line of defense) I am not really clear, what this meansâ€¦ The “we scare you” approach of the big vendors works? I am wrong? People just follow the road of “we always used Anti-Virus therefore we still need more”?
I have seen too many successful attacks with known malware and deployed Anti-Malware software to be able to trust this technology. So, I guess there is still a lot of work to do to get people to rely (and use) technology built natively (and for free) in the operating system.
